With 35+ years experience, painting is all Hugh has ever known. His father an Irishman,
also traded as a painter alongside being an able seamen, whilst his mother, from Rarotonga worked as
a nurse. Hugh learnt the meaning of hard work through their actions.
At the age of 17 Hugh left school and began painting when his father set up shop on Westend rd, in
Auckland's central district. He continued to work in and out of the painting business
for the next 22 years, honing his skill as a proffessional painter.
In 2002 Hugh married his wife Sandie and with her 2 sons they started there new family, that's
when Hugh became serious about business. He up skilled, doing business studies and between
him and his wife set up a business partnership, trading under the name Paramount Painters.
For the next 15 years his skill base, great persona and high level of workmanship and execution earned
him a solid reputation in the market. Trading mostly through word of mouth Hugh's presence in
the industry became known to many throughout central auckland and surrounding districts.

In 2016 Founder / director Hugh O'Connor decided it was time to revamp the business he
had built and with the help of eldest son Ford they planned out a new direction for the company, bringing it out of "pre-historic" times
and breathing new life into it. They troubleshot the internal systems of the business, improving the Health and Safety policy and communications systems, developed a website,
connected to social media and are now beginning to employ skilled tradesman and signing new apprentices with the continued growth of the company.
Calibre Coatings is a new, fresh look company, with years of reputable experience backing it. At Calibre we wish to work along side
our clients to see there vision become a reality. we are currently working on developing unique products which will create a much easier
end consumer experience, from the home owner to property investors, to large corporate bodies and business owners.
